"MID-LIFE STRESS AND WORKING WOMEN"
8th Annual Sisters Staying Healthy Conference
Saturday, April 17, 2010, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM
University of Southern California, Los Angeles
Approved for three hours of Continuing Education Credit for RNs, MFTs and LCSWs. The Sisters Staying Healthy Conference is being conducted by Life-Long in partnership with the USC Davis School of Gerontology/Ethel Percy Andrus Center at the University of Southern California.
"We envision a world where everyone has an equal chance to live a long and healthy life."
With this vision of healthy longevity for all, the Sisters Staying Healthy Conference began in 2002 with a small gathering of women at Lady Effie’s Tea Parlor in South Los Angeles.
This year the program will address how mid-life physical and emotional stressors affect the health status of working women sandwiched between generations. What are the cultural factors that influence how women respond to these mid-life stressors? And what are the larger societal implications of a maturing workforce?
This event is for health, mental health, social service, human resource and other professionals whose work involves serving populations of women disproportionately affected by stress. At this interactive program, attendees will learn to differentiate racial and ethnic disparities in levels and manifestations of mid-life stress in working women, and learn strategies for reducing stress and promoting balance between the demands of worklife and homelife for their clients, as well as for themselves.
